Celebrating of World Chimpanzee Day, Primate Expertise partook in a conference organized by Lwiro Rehabilitation Center at Lwiro. During the event, Primate Expertise presented the major threats and challenges facing the conservation of chimpanzees, our closest cousins who are in danger of disappearing.

World Chimpanzee Day

These threats include poaching, deforestation and mining that destroy the chimpanzee’s natural settlement. For a sustainable conservation of these animals, Primate Expertise suggests a solution of installing camera traps in the forest to identify animal species sharing the same habitat with apes and chimpanzees, taking images of poaching activities and the regular production of ape seedlings that we call Ape trees.

These plants allow us to restore the degraded habitat of apes and chimpanzees with the support of the riparian communities.

This day was a satisfaction and the time to call everyone to take concrete actions to contribute to the sustainable conservation of chimpanzees that tend to disappear if nothing is urgently done.
